We are designer makers with over 30 years experience. We work predominantly with private individuals, as well as interior designers and architects. Our business is based on a simple philosophy; We are deeply committed to making furniture to a virtuoso standard, with enduring visual appeal.

As designers, we strive to achieve unelaborated elegance, with a restrained use of decoration. As makers and perfectionists, we achieve a consummate level of making, applying a combination of traditional hand skills, with cutting edge technology.

In equal measures, we value craftsmanship, sympathetic design, intelligent material selection, and the enjoyment and pleasure that our craft continues to bring both us and our clients.

It all started wheN…

Jane Cleal and Justin Williams met whilst studying Fine Furniture in High Wycombe. They gained invaluable experience in leading workshops, including Jane with an apprenticeship with Alan Peters OBE, (who had direct links with the Arts and Crafts Movement, he himself was an apprentice for Edward Barnsley). They realised their shared ambition by launching their own workshop in April 1990.

With a handful of commissions they set out to design and make fine bespoke furniture.  Having gone from strength to strength, they now have a small team, a thriving workshop, and a furniture school based on a farm in the West Country hamlet of Willett.  With this as their base, they work for clients across the country and internationally.

Core to their success, is the relationship they have with their clients. Often starting with a small commission such as a hall table, the majority of their work comes from repeat business, as many customers go on to commission more pieces of free standing furniture, fitted furniture or entire interiors.
