The joy of collaboration

Over the years we have been lucky enough to work with many other creative craftspeople, artists and designers with many different skills. It gives us the upmost joy and respect watching others at the peak of their discipline, achieving amazing results. It is always an honour to work with them.

We are pleased to report that once again we are inspired and lucky enough to be working with a very talented fine artist. There is a strong connection, which can be easily explained by the unusual surname, Sarah Cleal. (click her name to visit her instagram)

Yes, you may have guessed it Sarah is my sister, and we are currently working together to produce a piece that incorporates both our worlds. I am so excited, and please come back to find out how this collaboration will evolve!

Woodworkers wardrobe

It is with a smile on my face that I share this latest photo. As a quick project Justin and I have just installed this 4 metre wide wardrobe in our own home! Inspired by our wood sample box, which we always take to see our clients, it celebrates the beautiful range off timbers that are available.

In the family

During lockdown I sorted through some old photo's and came across this lovely piece of visual history, a photograph of my grandfather Geoffrey Appleton. As well as an artist he was also a woodworker at De Havilland air craft company. I am still lucky enough to have a few of his tools and paintings.

Alan Peters OBE (1933 - 2009)

At the beginning of my career I apprenticed to Alan Peters OBE. I vividly remember working on a low bench incorporating a fluted bowl.

In recognition of this and with the blessing of Alan's widow Laura, we produced a series of ‘bowl’ tables in celebration of his work.

Known as 'The maker's maker', Alan has direct links with the Arts and Crafts Movement, having apprenticed to Edward Barnsley. He is also widely seen as an exponent of the seventies Bristish Craft Revival.

New Website

Welcome back. We have been off-line for a while so are very happy to re-launch our new website. We have been busy working on some amazing commissions and are excited to now share them with you.
