At Williams and Cleal we are passionate about furniture, quality craftsmanship and beautiful functional design. Our small but highly skilled team each have their own particular areas of expertise, from exceptional craftsmanship to award winning design; from constructional knowhow to AutoCad drawings. We pride ourselves in producing the very finest bespoke furniture that is both beautiful and functional, to be enjoyed by both the client and future generations.


Jane Cleal

Jane Cleal brings over 20 years experience as an award winning designer and maker.  She developed her passion for furniture at an early age and studied a 3-year fine furniture craft and management course at Buckinghamshire College obtaining distinctions. In 1988 she attended a lecture by Alan Peters OBE who was directly linked to the Arts and Crafts movement having been apprenticed to Edward Barnsley. Jane was so inspired  she approached him and successfully obtained an apprenticeship at Alan's workshops in Devon. 

James Ralph

James Ralph trained at Rycotewood College in Oxfordshire in Furniture Design and Fine Craftsmanship before moving on to work for John Makepeace OBE for 10 years.

He worked on a number of iconic pieces and was awarded two Guilds marks by The Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers for a tall chest of drawers 'Eighteen' and a ladies writing desk before running his own furniture business for four years.

Justin Williams

Justin Williams is not only an extrememly skilled craftsman, but has 20 years experience in running a highly successful furniture making business. After studying a 3 - year fine furniture craft and management course at Buckinghamshire college, in 1990 with Jane, he set up Williams and Cleal Furniture.

Sue Bennett

Sue Bennett mainly deals with administrative tasks.
